For many people with Disabled Hands the job of tying their shoes becomes a real difficulty. Often the solution is to wear slip-on shoes. Many times slip-ons don't provide adequate support or cause injuries like blisters.
Here's a promising solution. Speed Laces offers a system that converts the high friction conventional shoe lace system to a low friction drawstring system. This would allow DH users to continue wearing traditional athletic shoes without the hand strain of pulling traditional laces through high friction eyelets.
It does appear that the cord lock device does require squeezing ability that may be difficult for DH users. Trusty pliers may be the answer here.
I'd recommend to the manufacturer that they develop a new cord lock device that will permit one handed operation and release to appeal to the Disabled Hands market. As the Boomers age and develop hand problems the market will be huge.

There is a new product called lace-amatic that tightens, locks or undoes knotted shoes with ONE finger. It also completely loosens knotted shoes with a deliberate nudge from either foot against a release catch.
